If money has already gone
Call 1930 now. Read this while it rings.
You have not been stupid, and you are not the first. What matters in the next few hours is speed, because a bank can still freeze money that has not yet been withdrawn.
The first hour, in order.
Call 1930 and get a complaint number
Write it down. Everything after this refers to it. If 1930 is engaged, file at cybercrime.gov.in and note the acknowledgement number.
Telephone your bank and say the words "fraudulent transaction"
Ask them to block the card or account and to raise a dispute. Note the time of your call and the name of the person you spoke to.
Do not delete anything
Not the messages, not the call log, not the screenshots, not the number. It feels like something you want gone. It is your evidence.
Write down what happened while it is fresh
Times, amounts, what was said, what you clicked. Three hours later you will not remember the order, and the order matters.
Tell one person in your family
Shame keeps people silent and silence is what the fraud needs. It also means a second pair of hands for the paperwork.
What the app does for you here.
This part of Pehra is free and will always be free. We will not put a payment screen between a frightened person and their own police complaint.
You speak, it writes
Tell the app what happened in your own words, in Hindi or English. It pulls out the amount, the time, the method and the bank, and shows you each one to correct.
It finds your cyber police station
From your pincode alone — no location tracking — it names the district cyber cell your complaint should be addressed to.
It produces three documents as PDFs
The police complaint, the bank dispute letter, and the written answers for the cybercrime portal. In English, because that is what every counter in India accepts, even when the app has been speaking to you in Hindi.
You print, sign and submit
Either upload the scan to the portal or hand it in at the station. Your copy stays on your phone behind your fingerprint, and never reaches us.
Your rights, which nobody tells you about.
The three-day window
Under RBI rules on unauthorised electronic transactions, if you report a fraudulent transaction promptly — within three working days — your liability can be nil. Delay moves that liability onto you. This is the single strongest reason to call immediately.
Two hours for a fake image
Under India's 2026 amendments to the IT Rules, platforms must remove high-risk synthetic content — morphed images, impersonation, non-consensual material — within two hours of a proper complaint. Three hours for a court or government order. You are entitled to insist on that timing.
This is general information about published rules, not legal advice, and outcomes depend on your facts and your bank. Ask your bank for its own policy in writing.
